Fletcher Hills is comprised of mostly single family homes although there are a few apartments and condos. This community was developed by Ed Fletcher between 1927 and 1928. There are many custom homes on large lots. Some residents have views of the mountains and some have views of the city and sunsets. It’s easy to get on the 125 Freeway or Interstate 8 from here and the 94 Freeway is only a few minutes away. Fletcher Hills is located mostly in El Cajon but a small region of it is in La Mesa.
This community is served by the Cajon Valley Union School District and the Grossmont Union High School District. Students may attend facilities like Johnson Elementary School and Cajon Valley Middles School as well as highly ranked Grossmont High School. There are also several private institutions like the Christian Unified Schools, Holy Trinity Catholic School, and St. Kieran Catholic Schools. Nearby colleges include Grossmont College, Cuyamaca Collage, and San Diego Christian College.

This region has several parks like the Harry Griffen Park and Wells Park. There are also several golf venues including the Cottonwood Golf Club and the Sycuan Golf & Tennis Resort. To the northeast is Lake Jennings which offers camping for tents or RVs, picnicking, boating, and hiking. This lake has some of the best fishing in the region with 37,000 pounds of channel catfish and trout stocked each year.
